Dawn S. Peters joined CGS in September 2001 as a Research Associate in the areas of economic and community development and association management. She serves as an Assistant Director at the CGS and is in charge of the Association Management team. The Association Management team handles various administrative functions for seven organizations.
Dawn serves as executive director of the Illinois City/County Management Association (ILCMA), a statewide association with over 750 members, American Planning Association Illinois Chapter (APA-IL), and the Illinois Local Government Lawyers Association (ILGL), a statewide association of approximately 190 members. She also oversees the Midwest Leadership Institute and other strategic initiatives and services aimed at units of local government, state and federal agencies, and non-profit organizations.
Prior to joining CGS, Dawn was Coordinator of the Master of Public Administration program at NIU. Dawn holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science from NIU. Dawn wants people to know CGS provides outstanding and customizable service to the organizations and clients served.
Dawn said she has "three outstanding sons who are accomplished in their own right: Bradley J. Peters, Pharm.D., R.Ph. from Drake University, Medical and Surgical/Trauma Critical Care Clinical Pharmacist at the St. Mary’s Campus of the Mayo Clinic and outstanding father to my grandchildren; Zachary R. Peters, Masters of Sports Management from NIU, Associate Sports Information Director, Baylor University in charge of baseball and women’s soccer; and Marcus P. Peters Bachelor of Science in communication from NIU and Wastewater Cert. 4 worker in Carpentersville. And, of course, I have been married to my extremely supportive husband, Joe, for over 35 years."
