For over fifty years, NIU’s Center for Governmental Studies has provided the expertise that city and county decision-makers need to implement efficient, sustainable and cost-effective policies and programs. We combine past experience and current best practices to help Illinois communities address present needs and prepare for the future.
Founded in 1969, CGS has an interdisciplinary staff with advanced degrees in fields such as public administration, public policy, business, economic development, history, computer science, data analysis and statistics, and mathematics. We work directly with community leaders in governmental and non-governmental organizations, including cities, counties, state and federal agencies, and nonprofits.
