Dawn S. Peters

Dawn S. Peters, M.P.A., joined the Center for Governmental Studies in September 2001 as a research specialist in the areas of economic and community development and association management. She serves as an Assistant Director at CGS and oversees the Association Management team, which handles various administrative functions for seven organizations.

Dawn serves as executive director of the Illinois City/County Management Association (ILCMA), a statewide association with over 750 members; the Wisconsin City/County Management Association (WCMA), a statewide association with over 360 members; and the Illinois Local Government Lawyers Association (ILGL), a statewide association of approximately 280 members. She also oversees the Midwest Leadership Institute and other strategic initiatives and services aimed at units of local government; state and federal agencies; and non-profit organizations.

Prior to joining CGS, Dawn was Coordinator of the Master of Public Administration program at NIU. Dawn holds an M.P.A. and a B.S. in political science from Northern Illinois University.
